News From the Greenville UU Fellowship

For more than a year, the Greenville UU Fellowship has been an active participant in the Interfaith Hospitality Network. This is a network of several churches who work to provide support to homeless families. Most shelters for the homeless separate men and women or separate the children from families. The purpose of the Network is to support the entire family. Each church houses and feeds the families for a week, converting Sunday School rooms into living spaces so that families can stay together. One or more couples (and sometimes children) from the church live there and interact with them. During their most recent hospitality week, they housed fourteen people. Greenville UU Fellowship members who have been personally involved in the hospitality weeks are enthusiastic and quick to tell others that the people served by this network are “just like you and me,” but just in unfortunate circumstances at the moment.
