UUA General Assembly - June 24-28 - Long Beach, CA

Have you registered for General Assembly yet? This year’s General Assembly promises to be a memorable experience. Registration for General Assembly and for Housing are available online at www.uua.org/ga

The Thomas Jefferson District at GA:
While at General Assembly, don’t forget to attend our District Ingathering on Thursday, June 24, from 4:30-5:45 p.m.

The Thomas Jefferson District is excited to be sponsoring two workshops:
Pioneer Settlements, Cowboy Religion: The Fellowship Movement in Retrospect, presented by The Rev. Cynthia Prescott and Holley Ulbrich.

Creating an Effective Long Range Plan, presented by Adele MacLean and Dr. Leon Spencer.

The Service of the Living Tradition
This year, the Service of the Living Tradition will return to its original Friday evening time slot. The service will recognize, remember and thank our leaders, both lay and professional, for their many different ways of ministering. Celebrate with fellow UUs as traditional UU hymns are sung and the fellowship of ministry is commemorated. Rosemary Bray McNatt will preach.

The Ware Lecture
Tha Ware Lecture will be presented by Holly Near. Ms. Near is a unique combination of entertainer, teacher and activist. She was born to parents from North Dakota and New York who were political activists, ranchers, and supporters of culture in the rural community of Ukiah, California. Holly moves comfortably in this blend of west coast sensibility and east coast sophistication. An immense vocal talent, Near's career as a singer has been profoundly defined by an unwillingness to separate her passion for music from her passion for human dignity. Holly Near is an ambassador for peace inviting the audience to its best self. She is a skilled performer who brings to the stage an integration of world consciousness, spiritual discovery, and theatricality.

Sunday Morning Worship
On Sunday morning, we will invite residents of the Long Beach community to join us for worship. The service will convey the Good News of Unitarian Universalism, a faith of open minds, loving hearts and helping hands. Worship will be open to all, both Unitarian Universalists and those who may be seeking our faith.

Sunday Morning Intergenerational Brunch with Entertainment
Start your Sunday morning off with an intergenerational breakfast before the worship service. UUs of all ages attend GA. Come and celebrate this community in a lively atmosphere colored by music, clowns, story and song. Join other GA attendees and their families for a fun and delicious start to the day. The breakfast has been scheduled for 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Long Beach Westin to allow time for participants to attend the Sunday Morning Worship, which will be held just across the street in the Long Beach Convention Center. Ticket prices are $12 ages 14-adult; $6 ages 6-13; free to children 0-5. Registrants in all GA children’s programs receive a complimentary ticket and will be attending this breakfast. Space is limited. No breakfast tickets will be sold after June 1, 2004.
