Leadership School for Religious Educators, July 4-10 - Ferry Beach, Saco, Maine http://www.ferrybeach.org/,This is an annual leadership school designed for religious educators and held at locations around the country. RE Week at the Mountain, July 11-16-This year's RE Week organizers are planning to offer two Renaissance morning modules: UU Identity and Teacher Training. There also will be afternoon workshops throughout the week with guest presenter, Sally Patton. Patton has written a book on special needs, which will be a valuable resource for RE programs. RE Week Conference at Ferry Beach, Maine, July 17-23, http://www.ferrybeach.org/,- "Spreading the Good News of Unitarian Universalism" with theme speaker, The Rev. Bill Sinkford, UUA President.
RE Week at Star Island, off the coast of Portsmouth, NH, July 10-17, http://www.starisland.org/bb/RE.html- Anti-racism theme titled: "Sacred Tasks: Whose Job is it Anyway?" With theme speakers, The Revs. Charles Orman and Rosemary Bray McNatt.
The Liberal Religious Educators' Association (LREDA) Fall Conference 2004-Oct 22-25 in Chicago. The theme will be on the new models of religious education for the 21st century, featuring Spirit Play, Way Cool Sunday School, and The Workshop Rotation models, among others. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Vivian Paley, a dynamite educator who wrote The Girl with the Brown Crayon, You Can't Say You Can't Play, and White Teacher. http://www.uua.org/lreda/content/conference.html
Youth Programming Aids
Many valuable resources are now available online via the Unitarian Universalist Association website: http://www.uua.org/YRUU/resources.html#online. One of the latest resources is the new "Seven Steps to Hiring a Paid Youth Advisor," a three-page downloadable document chock full of hiring tips for local congregations.
Young Adult and Campus Ministry Resources
The Unitarian Universalist Association's Young Adult and Campus Ministry office has assembled some great resources for congregations seeking to strengthen their young adult and campus ministries. Many are online or can be ordered. A number of the printed resources are available through the TJ District RE Lending Library or Laurel Amabile, Lifespan Program Consultant, Lamabile@uua.org , 828-231-0960.
