After 26 years of existence we just signed a contract for a little over 2 acres of land in Bluffton, SC.

We have relocated to the YMCA

From the UU Congregation, Blacksburg, VA:
At our recent congregational meeting, a significant majority of the membership voted to become a Welcoming Congregation. This vote came after a year of study, sermons and reflection by more than half of the membership of the congregation.

We are in the process of purchasing several acres of land that adjoins our current property, which will make it possible for the congregation to expand both our building and our parking.

Our YRUU group visited Boston in May. They took a tour of the UUA Youth office and visited King's Chapel and First and Second churches. They also met the Rev. Bill Sinkford while on a walking tour of Beacon Street, and he graciously chatted with them for a few minutes.

UU Church of Roanoke Commemorates 50th Anniversary

The UU Church of Roanoke is commemorating its 50th anniversary with the publication of The Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke 1954-2004: Fifty Years of Service to the Larger Community.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the UUCR, Bill Hackworth has written a history of the church, expanding upon the history prepared for the 25th anniversary. In addition to the history, the 166-page book includes a brief chronology of major events during the church's existence, sketches of some of the church's early members, biographical information about its ministers, a list of church officers for the last 50 years, photographs of the church and its ministers, and other information about the church. A color picture of Curtis Ratliff's beautiful stained glass "flaming chalice" window in the church graces the cover of the history.
Early acclaim for The Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke1954-2004: Fifty Years of Service to the Larger Community:

"A remarkable undertaking." The Rev. Kirk A. Ballin

"Church history as only Bill Hackworth could write it!!" Ann Hackworth
