UUs Supporting National Public Radio

Are you a fan of National Public Radio? Many UU's are. Do you suspect that many other NPR listeners in our area might be UUs if they knew such churches existed? There is an easy way to support Public Radio while publicizing UU churches in your state. Jim Hennigan of the Greenville, SC, UU Fellowship is coordinating a SC statewide UU effort to underwrite popular NPR programs. Friends and members of UU churches who want to support public radio will make out checks to their local church but earmark the funds "For Public Radio". These funds will be used 100% to underwrite favorite programs such as "All Things Considered", "The World"," Click and Clack, "Prairie Home Companion", and classical music.

We can be "on the air" at least eight times weekly for three months with a message such as "This program has been brought to you by the Unitarian Universalist churches of South Carolina where your doubts and questions are as welcomed as your answers and certainties. UU congregations are located in Greenville, Spartanburg, Aiken, Clemson, Hilton Head, Beaufort, Columbia, Charleston, Newberry, and Myrtle Beach".

We also invite (and would mention the location) any NC or GA. congregations that receive SC public radio stations to join us in this campaign. We need $4,500 and are well on our way toward that goal.

UUA President Sighted in TJ District

In spite of a very busy schedule that includes international visits, our UUA President, the Rev. Dr. Bill Sinkford, has attended a number of events around the Thomas Jefferson District.

Pictured here second from the right, the Rev. Dr. Sinkford participated in a panel discussion at the recent Social Justice Conference held at the UU Church of Charlotte, NC on March 15, 2003.
